Sprague Lake Accessible Backcountry Campsite

The America the Beautiful Access Pass does not pertain to this campsite, there is a fee.

Call the backcountry Office at 970-586-1242 or write:  Backcountry Office, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, CO 80517.  The camp has a three-night camping limit.

This camping area is a special wheelchair accessible backcountry campsite near Sprague Lake and  accommodates twelve campers including 5 five campers using wheelchairs and is moderately accessible.  The vault toilet is fully accessible.  The area includes picnic tables and a fire ring.  Sprague Lake Camp is reached from Sprague Lake parking via a fully accessible trail.  Reservations must be made for Sprague Lake Camp and a backcountry permit obtained.  Both are available from the Backcountry Offices at park headquarters or at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center on the west side of the park. 

Please be aware that the campsite is located 1/2 mile from the accessible parking spaces.  Please make a checklist for the personal items you will need for it will be a round trip of 1 mile.  You are responsible for transporting your gear for this is not a drive-to campsite.  Keep this under consideration in case of an emergency, especially at night.

It is suggested you bring your own firewood for it is not provided at the Sprague Lake area and there is no wood vendor that comes to this area unlike the other campgrounds.
